ICHEAP16, 16th International Conference on CHEMICAL AND PROCESS ENGINEERING

"ICheaP-16 is the sixteenth event in a series of biannual events started in 1993 with "the first International Conference on Chemical and Process Engineering" organized by AIDIC, the Italian Association of Chemical Engineering.
It is expected that the continued participation of the past years will be maintained and enhanced also in this event.

Exhibition ‘O Olhar do Pássaro’ at MU.SA – Museu das Artes de Sintra

The exhibition ‘O Olhar do Pássaro’ roots the relationship between Art, Science and Technology, focusing on three themes of nature: the forest, the relief, and the watercourse, with which different scales, textures and colours are explored in artistic, documentary and scientific representations. ‘O Olhar do Pássaro’ features the participation of artist Filipa Marte, who combines sculpture and painting pieces.

Gatherings in PSE (TerPSE_LabSOP)

Gatherings in PSE (TerPSE_LabSOP) with students, alumni and collaborators who in some way (or not) are or were connected to LabSOP who can informally share and discuss topics related to PSE.
In general everyone is welcome!

These TerPSE_LabSOP take place on the first 3 Thursdays of each month between 5 pm and 6 pm in classroom C13 (central pav. of the IST) or via zoom.

The program (always being updated) can be found here.

Biomass Valorization/TPMI Lab Talks

Biomass Valorization/TPMI Lab Talks

This is dedicated to short seminars, where 2 PhD students of the Biomass Valorization/TPMI (Technology Platform on Microencapsulation and Immobilization) Group give an update on their R&D results. Each presentation shouldn´t be longer than 10 minutes and is followed by up to 5 minutes of discussion. This is a good opportunity for young researchers get practice in communicating science and get to know what their peers are developing and establish collaborations. You´re welcome to participate in case you are interested.

SMART-diStributed AI systeM for mArine plastic debRis moniToring

It is estimated that 80% of all floating debris are marine plastics. These plastics are eventually ingested by marine species or act as a trap causing severe injuries and deaths for marine life. Marine plastic pollution is a substantial threat to wildlife and human health. The ability to detect floating plastic debris in short periods of time after they enter the ocean is a mitigating factor, which avoids the degradation of the macroplastics into smaller pieces and the consequential threat to the food chain.

SOLAR2CLEAN - Engineered solar light driven photocatalytic systems for wastewater purification

The SOLAR2CLEAN project, in partnership with ETH Zurich (Switzerland) aims at the achievement of a highly efficient engineered photocatalytic system, driven by solar light, of high applicability in real-life, targeting wastewater purification, i.e. the degradation of microplastics and other pollutants (antibiotic residues) generated by a high value Portuguese industry. It involves a dynamic research plan fostering innovation, technology integration and international collaborations.

BETTER PLASTICS – PLASTICS IN A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

BETTER PLASTICS project aims to be the Mobilizing Project of the Plastics Sector in Portugal and leverage the transition of this sector to a circular economy. It comes from an initiative of APIP, Associação Portuguesa da Indústria dos Plásticos, which intends to mobilize the private sector together with National Authorities, Universities and Citizens to the objectives of European Circular Economy.
