João Narciso holds degrees in Geology (2005) and Civil Engineering (2009), both from Univ. Coimbra, and also an MSc in Geological and Mining Engineering (2009) from the same university and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering (2015) from IST. João has a Ph.D. in Earth Resources (2023) from IST, Univ. Lisboa, with a dissertation entitled “Geostatistical inversion of geophysical data for near-surface modelling and characterization”.

Currently, his main research interests are related to the modelling and characterization of natural and anthropogenic near-surface environments, using geophysical inversion, probabilistic and machine learning methods.
