António Manuel Álvares Serrão Maurício, is an Associate Professor at IST since 2000; Auxiliar Professor- IST, (Definitive), 1999-2000; Auxiliar Professor- IST, (Provisional), 1994-1999. PhD. Mining Engineering- IST, 1994; Mining MsE- Mineralurgy and Mining Planning- IST, 1986; Graduation Mining Engineer-IST, 1982. Domain of specialization - Environmentally-induced stone materials decay diagnosis and control; X-Ray Microtomography (3D microscopy). Current research interests:- Water-rock interaction geochemistry; Reactive transport in porous media; Random Heterogeneous Materials; Self-Organizing Geochemistry; Petrophysics. Other professional interests/activities: 2D and 3D Image and Data Processing, Analysis and Modelling. He was vice- President of the Mining Department from 2002 to 2004. He has published more than 100 papers in Scientific Journals, Books and International and National Conference Proceedings. He has participated in and co-ordinated several national and international R & D Projects.
