About
PRR2 investment will fosters excellence in multidisciplinary research across CERENA’s core domains: energy, raw materials, and the environment. It reinforce CERENA’s role and integration into strategic national and European networks: the Collaboratory for Geosciences (C4G), the European Plate Observing System (EPOS-ERIC) and the CryoEM-PT (Cryo Electron Microscopy Hub).
The equipment acquired supports emerging scientific priorities, including (critical) raw materials processing, porous media flow modelling, low-carbon energy systems, remote sensing, digitalisation, waste valorisation, and the characterization of eco-innovative and geological materials.
It also includes a strategic joint acquisition through a consortium of research units from Instituto Superior Tecnico’s ecosystem: an Advanced High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy System. All equipment in complements existing national capabilities and is integrated into recognized research infrastructures, ensuring broad accessibility and impact.
