CERENA at European Researchers' Night- NEI 2018

CERENA participated in the European Researchers' Night, on 28 September at Jardim Príncipe Real, from 6 pm to midnight. CERENA presented the activity "FIRE AND STONE CULTURAL HERITAGE", coordinated by Professors Amélia Dionísio and Edite Martinho. In this activity the participants could observe, for different stone materials, the effects of the fires, based on laboratory simulations with different temperatures. Samples of these materials were shown as well as results of some induced changes in physical, mechanical and mineralogical characteristics.

The theme of the 2018 Edition of NEI is  Science in the City  and addressed the major concerns of urban communities related to future global changes, highlighting the relevance of science to ensuring quality of life in cities of the future and preserving cultural heritage as a factor essential to sustainability.

MUHNAC-UL functioned as the centralizing unit of the activities that took place that night in Lisbon, with a program of activities between Rato and Príncipe Real.
